Ferry Transfer Cart / Cross-Track 

Description:

The ferry electric flat cart, also called Cross-track Transfer Cart is a special rail-guided heavy-duty handling equipment with a double-layer vehicle body structure, widely applied in factory workshops, production lines and material storage yards for cross-track cargo transit.

It adopts an integrated two-layer design consisting of an upper transport trolley and a lower ferry body. The lower ferry body is installed in an underground pit, with its top surface perfectly level with the factory ground to eliminate height barriers for smooth loading and unloading. Rails are pre-mounted on the platform of the lower ferry bogie, which can precisely align with multiple groups of parallel production tracks. By lateral shifting of the lower ferry body, the upper trolley carrying workpieces can be transferred between different parallel tracks, realizing automatic cross-track material circulation.

  • Double-Layer Integrated Structure

    • Separated ferry and transport functions: the lower layer undertakes lateral track switching, while the upper layer bears cargo transportation. The split design simplifies track layout and avoids complex rotary platforms, greatly saving workshop space.

  • Ground-Flush Pit Installation

    • The lower car body is embedded below ground level, with its upper plane flush with the ground surface. No raised barriers exist, so forklifts, trolleys and production line equipment can dock with the cart without extra ramps.

  • Docking Rail System on Lower Platform

    • Custom rails are fixed on the lower ferry tabletop. The cart can accurately align with any parallel workshop tracks, enabling the upper trolley to shuttle freely among multiple production tracks to finish workpiece transfer.

    • Compared with turntable transfer equipment, this ferry flat car has simpler operation, lower manufacturing cost and independent running capability. It is an ideal solution for factories with dense parallel track layouts.

  • Customizable Configuration

    • Multiple power supply modes are optional: battery power, cable reel power, low-voltage rail power and sliding contact line power. Load capacity, platform size, travel speed and control mode (wireless remote / wired pendant) can all be customized per customer site requirements.

  • Complete Safety Protection

    • Equipped with emergency stop buttons, travel limit switches, anti-collision sensors and running warning alarms to prevent collision, overtravel and overload risks during continuous industrial operation.

Working Principle:

When workpieces need to be transferred from one production track to another parallel track:

  1. The lower ferry bogie moves laterally to align its built-in rails with the original production track;

  2. The upper transport trolley loaded with goods drives onto the lower ferry platform;

  3. The lower bogie shifts horizontally to dock its rails with the target parallel track;

  4. The upper trolley travels off the ferry body to the target track, completing cross-track cargo transfer.
