Zhifang made 12 sets of 80-ton electric transfer carts for a unmanned workshop in Tangshan, China. These transfer carts are unmanned operational model.
In a significant move toward intelligent manufacturing, Tangshan Donghai Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. has successfully implemented the Cold Rolling Intelligent Unmanned Workshop Project at its Tangshan Donghai Special Steel facility. The cutting-edge initiative marks a major milestone in the company’s digital transformation strategy and alignment with Industry 5.0 standards.

The project features the deployment of 12 sets of 80-ton electric transfer carts, designed to operate seamlessly under a low-voltage rail power supply system. These vehicles are integrated with advanced intelligent control electronics, enabling full connectivity with the factory's Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
By adopting an unmanned operational model, the workshop achieves real-time device monitoring, fault detection, and remote operation visibility—all controlled from a centralized monitoring hub. This reduces labor costs significantly while improving operational efficiency, safety, and production accuracy.
“This project represents a leap forward in intelligent steel production,” said a representative from Tangshan Donghai Iron and Steel Group. “We are proud to lead the way in applying unmanned and smart technologies that reflect the future of industrial manufacturing.”
The successful launch of the workshop underscores Tangshan Donghai’s commitment to innovation, automation, and the sustainable growth of China’s steel industry.
